New Smyrna Beach Utilities (NSBU) Solar & Net Metering Guide

Last updated: July 13, 2026 by Goldin Solar

New Smyrna Beach Utilities — NSBU — is the municipal electric, water, and reclaimed-water utility for the City of New Smyrna Beach in Volusia County. NSBU is administratively distinct from FPL (which serves most of Volusia) and Duke (which serves north/west Volusia). NSBU’s electric service is concentrated within New Smyrna Beach city limits.

Who NSBU serves

NSBU’s electric service territory covers:
City of New Smyrna Beach — most/all addresses within city limits
Adjacent unincorporated areas — limited; confirm current boundary with NSBU

NSBU is NOT FPL. Most of Volusia County (Daytona, Port Orange, Deltona) is FPL or Duke. NSBU is the muni for New Smyrna Beach. Verify from your power bill.

If you’re an NSBU customer, your net metering tariff is set by the New Smyrna Beach city commission / NSBU board, not the FL Public Service Commission.
