Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) Solar & Net Metering Guide

Last updated: July 13, 2026 by Goldin Solar

Tri-County Electric Cooperative — TCEC — is a member-owned electric cooperative headquartered in Madison (Madison County), serving the north-central Florida / Georgia border region. TCEC’s name reflects its founding tri-county service area; the cooperative now serves portions of Madison, Jefferson, Taylor, Lafayette, and Dixie counties in Florida, plus adjacent south-Georgia counties.

Who TCEC serves

TCEC covers the FL/GA border region:
Madison County — primary utility
Jefferson County — significant coverage
Taylor County — significant coverage
(Lafayette County is NOT TCEC territory — confirmed SVEC territory; removed)
Dixie County — portions
(GA counties — Brooks/Thomas/Lowndes — are NOT within the FL-side TCEC service area covered by this document; TCEC is FL-only cooperative for purposes of FL solar installs)

If you’re a TCEC member on the FL side, your meter swap and net metering tariff run through TCEC directly.

TCEC net metering: the basics

What makes TCEC different from FPL / Duke

Permit + utility coordination for TCEC FL members

  1. Building permit with the relevant county building department
  2. TCEC interconnection application — submitted in parallel
  3. HOA / ARC approval if applicable
  4. Installation after permit issuance
  5. Final inspection by the building department
  6. TCEC meter swap after final inspection
  7. PTO grant

Typical TCEC timeline

End-to-end: typically 8 to 12 weeks.
