The middle half of our 34 residential proposals from April–September 2026 were priced at $2.10–$2.73 per watt (median $2.41). The full range was $1.78–$3.62. For 8–12 kW systems (15 proposals), the middle half were priced at about $20,500–$28,000 before any battery. In our recent proposals, one Powerwall 3 added to a new solar system was priced at about $13,200–$14,100 (a small sample of 4–5 proposals). These are proposal prices, not final contract prices, and not a statewide average. Your price comes from a free design based on your roof and your bills.
What these numbers include
- Panels, inverters, racking, wiring, labor, permits, engineering and utility interconnection paperwork.
- Florida sales tax does not apply to solar equipment (F.S. 212.08(7)(hh)).
- Not included: re-roofing, main-panel upgrades, tree work, or trenching for ground mounts, unless your proposal lists them.
What raises or lowers the price
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Roof type | Tile and flat roofs need more mounting hardware and labor than shingle or metal. |
| Location (wind zone) | Miami-Dade and Broward sit in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which requires more roof attachments. |
| System size | Larger systems cost less per watt because fixed costs (permits, design, electrical work) are spread over more panels. |
| Equipment | Microinverters, optimizers, premium panels and batteries each change the price. |
| Electrical upgrades | An older or full main panel may need an upgrade before solar or batteries can connect. |
In our recent proposals, tile-roof systems had a median of about $2.77 per watt, versus about $2.07 for shingle. Several of the tile jobs were also in Miami-Dade, where hurricane-zone rules add cost.
Incentives that apply in 2026 (plain facts)
- Federal tax credit for homeowners: none for new installations. The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) does not apply to expenditures made after December 31, 2025, which the law ties to when installation is completed.
- Leases: A 2025 federal law (Public Law 119-21) also ended the federal business tax credits for home solar and batteries that a company owns and leases to a homeowner. We do not promise any federal credit through a lease.
- Florida sales-tax exemption: solar equipment is exempt from Florida sales tax (F.S. 212.08(7)(hh)).
- Florida property-tax exemption: Florida law excludes the value a residential solar system adds from your property-tax assessment (F.S. 193.624).
- Net metering: FPL, Duke Energy Florida and TECO credit the solar power you send to the grid under Florida PSC Rule 25-6.065. City-owned utilities and co-ops set their own rules; see our utility guides.
- Business owners: commercial systems follow different federal rules. Ask us for a commercial proposal.
Paying for solar
Most customers pay cash or use a solar loan. With a loan, the number that matters is the monthly payment compared with your current power bill. Your proposal shows both. We do not list loan rates here because lenders change them often.
How we price your home
- We pull 12 months of your utility bills.
- We design panels on satellite imagery of your actual roof and model your production.
- You get a written proposal with the exact price, the equipment list and a year-by-year savings estimate based on your utility’s rates.
Frequently asked questions
What is the price per watt for solar in Florida? The middle half of our 34 residential proposals from April–September 2026 were priced at $2.10–$2.73 per watt (median $2.41). The full range was $1.78–$3.62.
How much does a 10 kW solar system cost in Florida? Our recent proposals for 8–12 kW systems, a common size range, mostly fell between about $20,500 and $28,000 before any battery.
How much does a Tesla Powerwall 3 add? In our recent proposals, one Powerwall 3 added to a new solar system was priced at about $13,200–$14,100 (a small sample of 4–5 proposals).
Is there still a 30% federal tax credit? Not for homeowner systems installed now. See Incentives above.
Does solar raise my property taxes? Florida law excludes the value a residential solar system adds from your property-tax assessment (F.S. 193.624), so the system itself should not raise your property taxes.
How long does solar take to pay for itself? It depends on your usage, roof and utility. Your proposal includes a payback estimate built from your own bills.
Prices are from 34 Goldin Solar residential proposals dated April 30 – September 15, 2026. They are proposal prices, not final contract prices. Price per watt = proposed solar price ÷ system size in DC watts. Battery figures are the battery line in the same proposals. Proposals are estimates; your contract price may differ. This is not a statewide average. Updated October 19, 2026.
