Last updated: July 13, 2026 by Goldin Solar

Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative — universally referred to as WREC — is a member-owned electric cooperative serving central-west Florida. WREC’s headquarters is in Dade City (Pasco County), and the service territory spans portions of Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, Pasco, Polk, and Sumter counties. Spring Hill (Hernando County) is one of WREC’s largest concentrations of residential members.

Who WREC serves

WREC’s seven-county footprint covers a mix of:
– Substantial unincorporated residential (Spring Hill being the largest)
– Rural agricultural and equestrian residential
– Some growing master-planned communities

If you’re a WREC member, your meter swap and net metering tariff run through WREC directly — not Duke or FPL.

  6. WREC meter swap after final inspection
  7. PTO grant

Typical WREC timeline
