Fridays with Daren
Fridays with Daren is a weekly live show hosted by Goldin Solar CEO Daren Goldin and marketing director Dane Myers. In the show, which streams every Friday at 1 PM eastern, Daren and Daren are generally joined by guests who share their expertise in the environment in Florida. In our fifth episode, Daren and Dane are joined by Brian McNoldy, a tropical weather expert and hurricane scientist. Brain presented “Hurricanes, Sea-Level Rise, and South Florida’s Challenging Future.”
In this session, the group explored the origins of tropical weather systems, how we can expect climate change and sea-level rise to affect their behavior in South Florida, and what this means for all of Florida’s residents. Brian cleared up some common hurricane misconceptions and explained how these weather systems are measured and tracked. We dove into the world of citizen science and the intersections of carbon, energy, climate and weather.
Brian McNoldy is a hurricane scientist and Senior Research Associate at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School. He is a tropical weather expert for the Washington Post and scientific advisor for Coastal Risk Consulting. Follow him on Twitter @BMcNoldy to stay in touch with his latest work.
